Description

Sausage and Cabbage Skillet is a quick and hearty one-pan meal made with savory sausage, tender cabbage, onions, and simple seasonings for a comforting low-carb dinner.


Ingredients

  • 14 oz smoked beef or turkey sausage, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 4 cups green cabbage, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley for garnish


Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced sausage and cook for 4-5 minutes until browned.
  3. Remove sausage and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add onion and cook until softened.
  5. Stir in garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Add chopped cabbage, paprika, black pepper, salt, and Italian seasoning.
  7. Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage becomes tender.
  8. Return sausage to the skillet and stir well.
  9. Add butter and apple cider vinegar if using.
  10. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.
  11. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use smoked sausage for deeper flavor.
  • Red cabbage can be substituted for green cabbage.
  • Add red pepper flakes for extra heat.
  • Serve on its own or with rice or potatoes.
