Sausage and Cabbage Skillet is a quick and hearty one-pan meal made with savory sausage, tender cabbage, onions, and simple seasonings for a comforting low-carb dinner.
Ingredients
- 14 oz smoked beef or turkey sausage, sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 4 cups green cabbage, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (optional)
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add sliced sausage and cook for 4-5 minutes until browned.
- Remove sausage and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add onion and cook until softened.
- Stir in garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add chopped cabbage, paprika, black pepper, salt, and Italian seasoning.
- Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage becomes tender.
- Return sausage to the skillet and stir well.
- Add butter and apple cider vinegar if using.
- Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.
- Garnish with parsley and serve warm.
Notes
- Use smoked sausage for deeper flavor.
- Red cabbage can be substituted for green cabbage.
- Add red pepper flakes for extra heat.
- Serve on its own or with rice or potatoes.
- Store leftovers refrigerated for up to 4 days.
