Description
Tender grilled octopus with a smoky char, finished with fresh lemon juice, olive oil, and herbs for a simple yet elegant Mediterranean dish.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds octopus (cleaned)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 lemon (juice and zest)
- Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add the octopus.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 40–50 minutes until tender.
- Remove and let cool slightly, then cut into large pieces.
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
- In a bowl, mix olive oil, garlic, oregano, salt, pepper, and lemon zest.
- Toss octopus in the marinade.
- Grill octopus for 3–4 minutes per side until lightly charred.
- Remove from grill and drizzle with fresh lemon juice.
- Garnish with parsley and serve warm.
Notes
- Do not skip pre-cooking the octopus to ensure tenderness.
- Marinate longer for deeper flavor if desired.
- Serve with roasted potatoes or salad.
- Best enjoyed fresh off the grill.
