Description

Tender grilled octopus with a smoky char, finished with fresh lemon juice, olive oil, and herbs for a simple yet elegant Mediterranean dish.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds octopus (cleaned)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 lemon (juice and zest)
  • Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)


Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add the octopus.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer for 40–50 minutes until tender.
  3. Remove and let cool slightly, then cut into large pieces.
  4. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  5. In a bowl, mix olive oil, garlic, oregano, salt, pepper, and lemon zest.
  6. Toss octopus in the marinade.
  7. Grill octopus for 3–4 minutes per side until lightly charred.
  8. Remove from grill and drizzle with fresh lemon juice.
  9. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Do not skip pre-cooking the octopus to ensure tenderness.
  • Marinate longer for deeper flavor if desired.
