Description

Mashed Potato Cheese Puffs are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, made from creamy mashed potatoes mixed with cheese and baked or fried into golden, bite-sized treats.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (cooled)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying or cooking spray for baking

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) if baking, or heat oil in a deep pan if frying.
  2. In a bowl, combine mashed potatoes, shredded cheese, eggs, flour, Parmesan, green onions, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix until well combined and a soft dough forms.
  4. Scoop small portions and shape into balls or small mounds.
  5. For baking: place on a greased or lined baking sheet and lightly spray with oil.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and crispy.
  7. For frying: carefully drop into hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3–4 minutes.
  8. Drain on paper towels if fried and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use leftover mashed potatoes for best results.
  • Add cooked bacon or herbs for extra flavor.
  • Do not overcrowd when frying to maintain crispiness.
  • Serve with dipping sauces like ranch or garlic aioli.
