Description
Mashed Potato Cheese Puffs are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, made from creamy mashed potatoes mixed with cheese and baked or fried into golden, bite-sized treats.
Ingredients
- 2 cups mashed potatoes (cooled)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying or cooking spray for baking
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) if baking, or heat oil in a deep pan if frying.
- In a bowl, combine mashed potatoes, shredded cheese, eggs, flour, Parmesan, green onions, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Mix until well combined and a soft dough forms.
- Scoop small portions and shape into balls or small mounds.
- For baking: place on a greased or lined baking sheet and lightly spray with oil.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and crispy.
- For frying: carefully drop into hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3–4 minutes.
- Drain on paper towels if fried and serve warm.
Notes
- Use leftover mashed potatoes for best results.
- Add cooked bacon or herbs for extra flavor.
- Do not overcrowd when frying to maintain crispiness.
- Serve with dipping sauces like ranch or garlic aioli.
