A simple and creamy banana cream pie made with layers of fresh bananas, smooth custard, and whipped cream in a buttery crust—perfect for an easy and delicious dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 pre-made pie crust (graham cracker or pastry)
- 3 ripe bananas, sliced
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
Instructions
- Bake the pie crust according to package instructions if required, then let it cool completely.
- In a saucepan, whisk together sugar and cornstarch, then gradually add milk.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened.
- In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolks, then slowly add a small amount of the hot mixture to temper them.
- Return the egg mixture to the saucepan and cook for 2 more minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract.
- Arrange sliced bananas in the bottom of the crust.
- Pour the custard over the bananas and smooth the top.
- Refrigerate for at least 2–3 hours until set.
- Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and spread over the pie before serving.
Notes
- Use ripe but firm bananas for best texture.
- Cover bananas with custard quickly to prevent browning.
- Chill thoroughly for clean slices.
- Top with extra banana slices or chocolate shavings if desired.
