Rich and fudgy chocolate brownies filled with a gooey caramel center, creating the perfect indulgent dessert with a soft, chewy texture and sweet caramel surprise.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup soft caramel candies, unwrapped
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- In a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, melt the caramel candies with the heavy cream, stirring until smooth.
- Pour the melted caramel evenly over the brownie layer.
- Spoon the remaining brownie batter over the caramel layer and gently spread to cover.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes
- For cleaner cuts, refrigerate the brownies for about 30 minutes before slicing.
- A sprinkle of sea salt on top enhances the caramel flavor.
- Do not overbake to keep the brownies fudgy.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
