Description

Sweet Potato Casserole is a classic comfort-food side dish made with creamy mashed sweet potatoes topped with a buttery, crunchy pecan topping, perfect for holidays and family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened (for topping)
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a casserole dish.
  2. Boil sweet potatoes in a large pot until fork-tender, about 15–20 minutes. Drain well.
  3. Mash sweet potatoes until smooth.
  4. Stir in granulated sugar, eggs, melted butter, milk, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  5. Spread sweet potato mixture evenly into the prepared casserole dish.
  6. In a bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, softened butter, and chopped pecans until crumbly.
  7. Sprinkle topping evenly over the sweet potato mixture.
  8. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes until topping is golden and casserole is set.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.
