Description

Spicy, Sweet and Sticky Chicken is a bold and flavorful dish featuring tender chicken pieces coated in a glossy sauce that balances heat, sweetness, and savory notes. Perfect for weeknight dinners served over rice or noodles.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add chicken pieces and cook until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add garlic and ginger; sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Stir in honey, soy sauce, sweet chili sauce, rice vinegar, and sriracha.
  5. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.
  6. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to form a slurry.
  7. Pour the slurry into the sauce and stir until thickened.
  8. Return the chicken to the skillet and toss until fully coated and sticky.
  9. Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes, then remove from heat.
  10. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust the spice level by increasing or reducing sriracha.
  • Chicken thighs provide extra juiciness but breasts work well too.
  • Serve with steamed rice, fried rice, or noodles.
  • Sauce will thicken more as it cools.
