Description

Spicy Drunken Shrimp is a bold and flavorful seafood dish featuring tender shrimp sautéed in a spicy garlic chili sauce with a splash of wine, creating a savory and slightly sweet glaze.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup dry white wine
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 green onion, sliced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat shrimp dry and season lightly with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika.
  2. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add shrimp and cook for 1–2 minutes per side until pink and just cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and sauté garlic and red pepper flakes for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Pour in white wine to deglaze the pan, scraping up any browned bits. Let simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly reduced.
  6. Stir in soy sauce, honey, and lemon juice.
  7. Return shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for another 1–2 minutes until heated through and glazed.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and green onion before serving.

Notes

  • Serve over rice, pasta, or with crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
  • Adjust the red pepper flakes for desired spice level.
  • Do not overcook shrimp to keep them tender.
  • Substitute chicken broth for wine if preferred.
