Soft and Fluffy Indian Fry Bread Tacos are a beloved Native American-inspired dish featuring pillowy fried bread topped with seasoned meat and classic taco toppings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water (for meat)
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Gradually add warm water and mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
  4. Divide dough into 6 balls and flatten into discs.
  5. Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium heat.
  6. Fry dough until puffed and golden on both sides; drain on paper towels.
  7. In a separate skillet, cook ground beef until browned.
  8. Add taco seasoning and water; simmer for 5 minutes.
  9. Top fry bread with seasoned meat, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream.
  10. Serve warm.
