Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm water
- Oil for frying
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1/2 cup water (for meat)
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add warm water and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
- Divide dough into 6 balls and flatten into discs.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium heat.
- Fry dough until puffed and golden on both sides; drain on paper towels.
- In a separate skillet, cook ground beef until browned.
- Add taco seasoning and water; simmer for 5 minutes.
- Top fry bread with seasoned meat, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Do not overcrowd the pan when frying.
- You can substitute ground turkey if preferred.
