Description
Smash Burger Tacos combine the crispy, juicy flavor of a smash burger with the convenience of a taco. Seasoned ground beef is pressed directly onto a tortilla, seared until caramelized, then topped with cheese, pickles, and burger sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
- 4 small flour tortillas
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 slices American cheese
- 1/4 cup diced onions
- 1/4 cup sliced pickles
- 1/4 cup shredded lettuce
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard to create burger sauce. Set aside.
- Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and gently press each portion evenly onto one side of each tortilla.
- Season beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
- Place tortillas beef-side down in the skillet and press firmly to create a thin smash layer.
- Cook for 3–4 minutes until beef is browned and crispy.
- Flip tortillas and immediately top beef with a slice of American cheese.
- Cook for an additional 1–2 minutes until cheese melts and tortilla becomes lightly crisp.
- Remove from skillet and top with diced onions, pickles, shredded lettuce, and burger sauce.
- Fold like a taco and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use a cast-iron skillet for best crust.
- Do not overwork the beef to keep it tender.
- Add bacon or jalapeños for extra flavor.
