Description

Shrimp Boil is a classic one-pot seafood dish featuring shrimp, corn, potatoes, and sausage boiled together with bold seasonings for a flavorful, communal-style meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs large shrimp, shell-on and deveined
  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 1/2 lbs baby potatoes
  • 4 ears corn, cut into halves
  • 1/4 cup Old Bay seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 2 lemons, halved
  • 4 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Water, as needed

Instructions

  1. Fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil. Add salt, Old Bay seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne (if using), lemons, and garlic.
  2. Add potatoes to the boiling water and cook for 10–12 minutes until nearly tender.
  3. Add sliced sausage and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Add corn and cook for another 5 minutes.
  5. Add shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes, just until pink and opaque.
  6. Turn off heat, add butter, and let everything soak for 2 minutes.
  7. Drain and serve hot on a large platter or covered table.

Notes

  • Do not overcook the shrimp to avoid toughness.
  • Adjust spice level to taste.
