Description

Shrimp and mussels in a rich, creamy garlic sauce is a luxurious seafood dish featuring tender shrimp and briny mussels simmered in a velvety white wine and garlic cream sauce. Perfect served with crusty bread or over pasta for an elegant yet comforting meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 lb fresh mussels, cleaned and debearded
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup seafood or chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add shrimp and cook for 1–2 minutes per side until pink. Remove and set aside.
  4. Pour in white wine and simmer for 2–3 minutes to reduce slightly.
  5. Add broth and heavy cream, bringing to a gentle simmer.
  6. Stir in Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  7. Add mussels, cover, and cook for 5–7 minutes until they open. Discard any that remain closed.
  8. Return shrimp to the skillet and stir in lemon juice.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Serve with crusty bread, rice, or pasta to soak up the sauce.
  • Do not overcook shrimp to keep them tender.
  • Use fresh mussels and discard any cracked or open shells before cooking.
  • Best enjoyed immediately; leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 1 day.
