Description

Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf is a hearty comfort dish that combines juicy ground beef with sautéed onions and peppers, then finished with melted provolone cheese for classic cheesesteak flavor in meatloaf form.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese (or sliced provolone)
  • Cooking spray or oil for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté onion and bell pepper until softened. Let cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Mix in the sautéed onions and peppers until just combined.
  5. Press the meat mixture evenly into the prepared loaf pan.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven and top with provolone cheese.
  8. Return to oven and bake an additional 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted and meatloaf is cooked through.
  9. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the meat to keep the meatloaf tender.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables.
  • Leftovers make great sandwiches.
