Description
Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf is a hearty comfort dish that combines juicy ground beef with sautéed onions and peppers, then finished with melted provolone cheese for classic cheesesteak flavor in meatloaf form.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 cup shredded provolone cheese (or sliced provolone)
- Cooking spray or oil for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté onion and bell pepper until softened. Let cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Mix in the sautéed onions and peppers until just combined.
- Press the meat mixture evenly into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for 40 minutes.
- Remove from oven and top with provolone cheese.
- Return to oven and bake an additional 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted and meatloaf is cooked through.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Do not overmix the meat to keep the meatloaf tender.
- Serve with mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables.
- Leftovers make great sandwiches.
