Description
Mozzarella Cheese Steak Stromboli is a savory Italian-American dish featuring a tender beef steak, melted mozzarella cheese, and flavorful seasonings wrapped in a golden, crispy pizza dough. It’s the perfect combination of cheesy, meaty goodness.
Ingredients
- 1 lb rib-eye steak or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 package (14 oz) refrigerated pizza dough
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced steak and cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and bell pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes until softened. Add garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper to the vegetables. Stir to combine and cook for another 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle (about 12×8 inches).
- Spread the cooked steak and vegetable mixture evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the filling.
- Carefully roll the dough into a log, pinching the edges to seal the Stromboli.
- Place the Stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top with melted butter and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted inside.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with dried parsley, if desired.
- Slice and serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping, if preferred.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add mushrooms or other vegetables to the filling.
- If you want a spicier version, try adding some sliced jalapeños or red pepper flakes.
- Make sure to seal the Stromboli well to avoid any leakage of cheese during baking.
- This recipe can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge before baking.
