Description
Montanara pizza is a traditional Italian fried pizza topped with rich tomato sauce, melted mozzarella, and fresh basil for a crispy yet tender bite.
Ingredients
- 1 pound pizza dough
- 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Divide pizza dough into 4 equal portions and shape into small rounds.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully fry each dough round for 1–2 minutes per side until golden and puffed. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Spread tomato sauce over each fried dough round.
- Top with slices of fresh mozzarella and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 5–7 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Drizzle with olive oil and garnish with fresh basil before serving.
