Description

Montanara pizza is a traditional Italian fried pizza topped with rich tomato sauce, melted mozzarella, and fresh basil for a crispy yet tender bite.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt


Instructions

  1. Divide pizza dough into 4 equal portions and shape into small rounds.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Carefully fry each dough round for 1–2 minutes per side until golden and puffed. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  5. Spread tomato sauce over each fried dough round.
  6. Top with slices of fresh mozzarella and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake for 5–7 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Drizzle with olive oil and garnish with fresh basil before serving.
