Description
Healthy air fryer churro bites are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, made with minimal oil and naturally sweetened, then lightly coated with cinnamon for a guilt-free treat.
Ingredients
- 120 ml water
- 2 tbsp coconut oil or unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 120 g whole wheat flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- Cooking spray
- 1 tbsp coconut sugar (for coating)
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, coconut oil, and honey. Heat until the oil is melted.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Add flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon, mixing until a dough forms.
- Let the dough cool slightly, then transfer it to a piping bag.
- Pipe small bite-sized pieces onto parchment paper.
- Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (350°F).
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and place churro bites inside, leaving space between them.
- Air fry for 8–10 minutes until golden and crisp.
- Mix coconut sugar and cinnamon together and toss the warm churro bites in the mixture.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket.
- Churro bites are best enjoyed fresh.
- Maple syrup can be used instead of honey for a vegan version.
