Description

Healthy air fryer churro bites are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, made with minimal oil and naturally sweetened, then lightly coated with cinnamon for a guilt-free treat.

Ingredients

  • 120 ml water
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil or unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 120 g whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Cooking spray
  • 1 tbsp coconut sugar (for coating)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, coconut oil, and honey. Heat until the oil is melted.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  3. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Let the dough cool slightly, then transfer it to a piping bag.
  5. Pipe small bite-sized pieces onto parchment paper.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (350°F).
  7. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and place churro bites inside, leaving space between them.
  8. Air fry for 8–10 minutes until golden and crisp.
  9. Mix coconut sugar and cinnamon together and toss the warm churro bites in the mixture.
  10. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket.
  • Churro bites are best enjoyed fresh.
  • Maple syrup can be used instead of honey for a vegan version.
