Description

French Silk Brownies are a decadent dessert featuring a rich, fudgy brownie base topped with a smooth, creamy French silk chocolate layer and finished with fluffy whipped cream.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for silk layer)
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 oz unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for silk layer)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (for whipped topping)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix melted butter and granulated sugar until combined.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
  4. Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt, then fold into the wet mixture.
  5. Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes. Cool completely.
  6. For the French silk layer, beat softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  7. Add melted chocolate and vanilla, beating until smooth and creamy.
  8. Spread the silk layer evenly over the cooled brownies.
  9. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  10. Spread or pipe whipped cream over the top.
  11. Chill for at least 1 hour before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Brownies must be completely cooled before adding the silk layer.
  • Chilling helps achieve clean slices.
  • Optional chocolate shavings can be added on top for garnish.
