French Silk Brownies are a decadent dessert featuring a rich, fudgy brownie base topped with a smooth, creamy French silk chocolate layer and finished with fluffy whipped cream.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for silk layer)
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 2 oz unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for silk layer)
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (for whipped topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, mix melted butter and granulated sugar until combined.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
- Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt, then fold into the wet mixture.
- Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes. Cool completely.
- For the French silk layer, beat softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add melted chocolate and vanilla, beating until smooth and creamy.
- Spread the silk layer evenly over the cooled brownies.
- In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Spread or pipe whipped cream over the top.
- Chill for at least 1 hour before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Brownies must be completely cooled before adding the silk layer.
- Chilling helps achieve clean slices.
- Optional chocolate shavings can be added on top for garnish.
