Description

Fish Puttanesca is a bold and savory Italian-inspired dish featuring tender white fish simmered in a rich tomato sauce with olives, capers, garlic, and herbs for a briny, vibrant flavor.

Ingredients

  • 4 white fish fillets (such as cod or halibut)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/3 cup pitted Kalamata olives, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons capers, drained
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Season the fish fillets with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add garlic and red pepper flakes; sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, olives, capers, and oregano. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
  5. Nestle the fish fillets into the sauce.
  6. Cover and cook for 8–10 minutes, or until fish flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Drizzle with lemon juice and sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Use firm white fish to prevent breaking apart during cooking.
  • Serve over pasta, rice, or crusty bread.
  • Add anchovies for a more traditional puttanesca flavor.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes for desired heat level.
