Description
Soft and fluffy sweet rolls filled with cinnamon sugar and a creamy cream cheese layer, baked until golden and irresistibly tender.
Ingredients
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp milk (for glaze)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add granulated sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt. Mix well.
- Gradually add flour and knead until a soft dough forms.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Roll dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
- Spread softened butter and cream cheese evenly over the dough.
- Mix brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle evenly on top.
- Roll dough tightly into a log and cut into equal rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake rolls for 22–25 minutes until lightly golden.
- Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make glaze. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
Notes
- Do not overheat the milk or it may kill the yeast.
- Rolls are best served warm.
- You can prepare the rolls the night before and bake in the morning.
