Description

Churros Cake is a moist cinnamon-spiced cake inspired by classic churros, layered or topped with creamy frosting and finished with a generous coating of cinnamon sugar. It delivers all the warm, sugary flavors of churros in soft cake form.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • For the topping:
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • For the frosting (optional):
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
  5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth top.
  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely.
  8. Mix cinnamon and sugar for topping and sprinkle over cake surface (brush lightly with melted butter first if desired for better adhesion).
  9. If using frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth, add powdered sugar and vanilla, then spread over cooled cake before adding cinnamon sugar.

Notes

  • Brush cake lightly with melted butter before adding cinnamon sugar for authentic churro flavor.
  • Can be baked as cupcakes for individual servings.
  • Add dulce de leche between layers for extra richness.
  • Store covered at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerate up to 5 days.
