Description
Churros Cake is a moist cinnamon-spiced cake inspired by classic churros, layered or topped with creamy frosting and finished with a generous coating of cinnamon sugar. It delivers all the warm, sugary flavors of churros in soft cake form.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- For the topping:
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- For the frosting (optional):
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth top.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely.
- Mix cinnamon and sugar for topping and sprinkle over cake surface (brush lightly with melted butter first if desired for better adhesion).
- If using frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth, add powdered sugar and vanilla, then spread over cooled cake before adding cinnamon sugar.
Notes
- Brush cake lightly with melted butter before adding cinnamon sugar for authentic churro flavor.
- Can be baked as cupcakes for individual servings.
- Add dulce de leche between layers for extra richness.
- Store covered at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerate up to 5 days.
