Description

Boston Cream Roll-Ups are a quick and easy dessert inspired by Boston cream pie, featuring rolled bread filled with creamy vanilla pudding, cooked until golden, and topped with rich chocolate sauce.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices white sandwich bread, crusts removed
  • 1 cup prepared vanilla pudding (thick)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin.
  2. Spread about 2 tablespoons of vanilla pudding onto each slice.
  3. Roll up the bread tightly and set aside.
  4. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
  5. Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, coating lightly.
  6. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  7. Cook roll-ups seam-side down, turning until all sides are golden brown.
  8. In a small saucepan, heat heavy cream until warm, then stir in chocolate chips until smooth.
  9. Drizzle chocolate sauce over roll-ups, dust with powdered sugar, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use thick pudding to prevent leaking.
  • Best served immediately while warm.
  • Can be made with brioche for a richer texture.
