Baked Teriyaki Chicken is a flavorful and easy dish made with tender chicken baked in a sweet and savory homemade teriyaki sauce, perfect for a simple weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey or brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
  3. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  4. Mix cornstarch with water and stir into the sauce until slightly thickened.
  5. Place chicken in a baking dish and pour teriyaki sauce over it.
  6. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, basting once halfway through.
  7. Remove from oven when chicken is cooked through and glossy.
  8. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Chicken thighs stay juicier than breasts.
