Description
Baked Teriyaki Chicken is a flavorful and easy dish made with tender chicken baked in a sweet and savory homemade teriyaki sauce, perfect for a simple weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey or brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
- Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Mix cornstarch with water and stir into the sauce until slightly thickened.
- Place chicken in a baking dish and pour teriyaki sauce over it.
- Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, basting once halfway through.
- Remove from oven when chicken is cooked through and glossy.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.
Notes
- Chicken thighs stay juicier than breasts.
- Serve with steamed rice or vegetables.
- Sauce thickens more as it cools.
