Description
Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan is a lighter take on the classic Italian-American dish, featuring crispy breaded chicken breasts topped with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella, all cooked to perfection in the air fryer.
Ingredients
- 2 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Cooking spray
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat air fryer to 190°C (375°F).
- Slice chicken breasts in half horizontally to create thinner cutlets.
- Season chicken with salt and pepper.
- Set up three bowls: flour in one, beaten eggs in another, and breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan, garlic powder, and oregano in the third.
- Dredge chicken in flour, dip in egg, then coat with breadcrumb mixture.
- Lightly spray chicken with cooking spray.
- Place in air fryer basket in a single layer and cook for 8–10 minutes.
- Flip chicken, spoon marinara sauce on top, and sprinkle with mozzarella.
- Cook another 3–5 minutes until cheese is melted and chicken is cooked through.
- Garnish with fresh basil and serve warm.
Notes
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket.
- Serve with pasta or a side salad.
- Ensure internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F).
